Indoor pool and SOFY

Wooden sauna with infrared cabin

Freyung's indoor pool operates seasonally. For adults, the SOFY sauna oasis is a possible quiet addition. Current areas, admission, prices and times are on the official websites.

Schramlhaus and Wolfstein Castle

The Schramlhaus presents the town's history and everyday life. For Wolfstein Castle, the season is particularly important.

Wolfstein Castle is not a reliable winter tipThe town lists closures from the last Monday in January to the Thursday before the Easter holidays, and from the end of the autumn holidays until 25 December. Check current opening before every visit.

More cultural destinations are covered on our page Museums and culture around Freyung.

Waldkirchen: leisure pool and an optional stroll around town

The Karoli-Badepark is a possible swimming destination for families and couples. The Garhammer department store can round off a stroll around town. Please check opening times, offers and prices with the operators.

Passau and Veste Oberhaus

Passau is ideal for a longer day trip with its old town and cafés. The Oberhaus Museum at the fortress opens seasonally and should only be included after checking current information. Our guide Passau as a day trip describes a year-round winter and rainy-day route separately from the seasonal Oberhaus option; more destinations are listed under Sights in the Bavarian Forest.

Back to the chalet

A short trip leaves time for private relaxation. The page Wellness chalet in the Bavarian Forest shows the sauna, hot tub and places to retreat. For more winter ideas, see the winter overview, the ski guide and winter hiking and cross-country skiing.

Relaxed in the chalet, even in the rain

Plan a getaway that does not depend on guaranteed snow or sunshine.
