Forest wilderness as a day trip
Wellness Chalet near the Bavarian Forest National Park
See wolves, bears, lynx and vast forest landscapes – and then return to the private calm of your chalet on the Geyersberg.

Lusen National Park Centre
Animal enclosure and Hans-Eisenmann-Haus
The Lusen National Park Centre combines visitor information with an animal enclosure of around 200 hectares. Along the circular trail of about seven kilometres, around 40 native species live in spacious, near-natural enclosures – including wolves, bears, lynx, European bison and otters. The national park administration estimates around three to four hours for the full circuit.
Our own route tips in the national park: Hiking the Lusen and Rachel and Rachelsee.
The animals have places to retreat to, so a sighting can never be guaranteed. Individual areas may also be temporarily closed; please check the official website for current information before every visit.

Treetop Walk
See the Bavarian Forest from above.
The Treetop Walk at the Lusen National Park Centre is 1,300 metres long and rises up to 44 metres above the forest floor. It is operated by Erlebnis Akademie and adds new perspectives on forest and landscape to your national park day.
We deliberately do not repeat current opening hours, prices and possible restrictions on this accommodation page.
Back to the Geyersberg
From a day in the forest to your own wellness chalet.
This page is our main guide to holidays around the Bavarian Forest National Park. Wolfsteiner Bergchalets themselves are located on the Geyersberg in Freyung: the national park is a destination for day trips that you can combine with your private chalet getaway – it is not part of the accommodation.
After the forest, the animal enclosure or the Treetop Walk, your own sauna and a private hot tub are waiting in your chalet. Chalet Romantik suits two people, Chalet Deluxe 2–3 people. Panorama and Young & Fun are designed for up to four people; Panorama also offers two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
More regional content is kept separate on purpose: Hiking & nature covers trails and landscape around Freyung, and Active holidays covers hiking, cycling and winter activities.
Explore – then relax in private
Your favourite chalet is waiting on the Geyersberg.
After a day in the Bavarian Forest, the hot tub and sauna are all yours again.
