Winter around the Geyersberg is not tied to a single activity. Outdoor options depend on snow, grooming and operation; destinations less dependent on the weather round off your plans. Always check current conditions directly with the official source before you set off.
How to plan a winter day around Freyung
For your first turns, the beginners' centre in Solla is ideal when there is enough snow. If you are planning a bigger ski day, check what Mitterdorf offers. Winter hiking is quieter; for classic or skating cross-country trails, the Kreuzberg cross-country centre is the official place to go. Ice skating, culture or swimming help when there is no natural snow.
Skiing in Solla and Mitterdorf
The town describes the Freyung-Geyersberg/Solla beginners' ski and snowboard centre as having a 540-metre double T-bar lift and an easy slope. It is aimed especially at beginners and families, but only opens when there is enough snow. Mitterdorf is the larger regional alternative for a full ski day.
Differences, target groups and current status links are collected in our guide Skiing around Freyung: Solla and Mitterdorf.
Winter hiking and cross-country skiing
Winter trails around Solla and the Geyersberg combine exercise and landscape. When groomed, the Freyung-Kreuzberg cross-country centre lists classic trails and a skating loop. Whether and how the trails can be used varies from day to day.

Ice skating and sledging
